Abstract
A new dinosaur fauna, the Ruyang Gigantic Sauropod Dinosaurian Fauna from the early Late Cretaceous of the Ruyang Basin is named. The new dinosaurian fauna is dominated by large-sized sauropod dinosaurs, companying with theropod dinosaurs, such as ornithomimid, oviraptorid, spinosaurid and carcharodontosaurid dinosaurs. Two new taxa are erected, they are a oviraptorid dinosaur Luoyanggia liudianensis gen. et sp. nov., and a sauropod Xianshanosaurus shijiagouensis gen et sp. nov. The dinosaur assemblage from the Ruyang Basin indicates that the dinosaur-bearing deposits are Cenomanian in age.
Holotype
A partial mandible (41HIII-00010), a partial pelvic girdle (41HIII-00011 (Field No. KRL 07-62-44a)) and right ilium, ischium and nearly complete pubis (KLR07-62-49-1) and right metatarsals (KLR07-62-28a-16), Specimens are housed at the Henan Geological Museum, Zhengzhou, Henan Province
Etymology
Luoyang refers to Luoyang City, which the fossil locality administratively belongs to. Liudian refers to Liudian Town, where the holotype was discovered.
Type Locality and Horizon
A quarry at Shijiagou village, Liudian Town of Luoyang City, Henan Province. “Mangchuan Formation” (Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources of Henan Province, 1989).The upper unit of the deposits (Early Late Cretaceous) of this study.
Diagnosis
A new oviraptorid dinosaur differs from other oviraptorids in that the rostral part of the mandible is not downturned and the mandibular symphysis is V-shaped, and the shaft of the ischium is slightly concave caudally.
