Typespecies of Dimodosaurus. Known from the following specimens: Syntypes including the neural arch of an anterior dorsal vertebrae (POL 1), an incomplete right scapula (POL collection), a compreses right femur (POL 75), fibulae (the right lackingdistal end) (POL 37), and three pedal phalanges. Lectotype (POL; lectotype specimens one through four as catalogued by Chopard, 1883, fifth specimen a right ilium from another individual), including eight articulated vertebrae (dorsals 11 to 15 and first three sacrals with articulated left ilium. Paralectotypes: comprising the remaining elements figured in a reconstruction by Chopard, including the distal end of the left tibia with articulated astragalus, and displaced calcaneum, and the complete right fibula.
Possibly a junior synonym of Plateosaurus longiceps or a Nomina Dubia (Galton, 2001)
