Antrodemus valens (Leidy, 1870) > Poekilopleuron valens (Leidy, 1870 / Olshevsky, 1992)
Holotype: (USNM 218) posterior half of sixth? caudal centrum (~125 mm) Based on a single partial and damaged caudal vertebra.
Collected in 1869. Leidy named it in 1870 in the Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia. This taxon was later referred to both Poekilopleuron and later to Allosaurus. Antrodemus is probably a senior synonym of Allosaurus, and perhaps its better to be regarded as an isolated, indeterminate, until comparative work on all Morrison allosaurid specimens is completed.
