Typespecies

Rebbachisaurus (Lavocat, 1954) > Rebbachisaurus garasbae (Lavocat, 1954) > Rebbachisaurus tamesnensis (Lapparent, 1960) Rebbachisaurus tessonei (Calvo and Salgado, 1995) > Limaysaurus tessonei (Calvo and Salgado vide Novas, 1997)

Caudal dorsal vertebrae, scapula, humerus, sacrum.

Rebbachisaurus systemic position is unclear. The type specimen of Rebbachisaurus garasbae consists of a scapula, a humerus, caudal dorsal vetebrae, and an unprepared sacrum. Only a very brief description has appeared Lavocat (1954), but an exhibited dorsal in Paris which is in pretty poor condition allows a few futher observations. Lapparent (1960) has reffered various remains from Niger to a second species, Rebbachisaurus tamesnensis, but there is some question as to whether most of this material belongs to this genus. A dorsal vertebrae resembling that of Rebbachisaurus garasbae from the Late Cretaceous of Argentina Nopcsa (1902) would appear to extend the range of this genus. Some sources suggest Rebbachisaurus resembled Amargasaurus, but until more of the presacral column is found, this should be regarded as just one of many possibilities.
