Genus - Typespecies
Although apparently of Early Jurassic age, the large Australian form Rhoetosaurus brownei clearly possessed derived features separating it from the Vulcanodontidae. It is known from a partial skeleton; incomplete cervicals, dorsals, sacrals, and a series of proximal and middle caudals, several of the latter complete. From the appendicular skeleton, there are the incomplete pubes, the greater part of a femur, and the as yet underscribed tibia, fibula, and pes (Thulborn, pers.comm.).
