Info
Genus - Typespecies
Known from an Ilium (type), a premaxilla (Madsen, 1974), and a partial braincase (Chure and Madsen, 1998). All specimens were recovered from the same quarry.
Holotype
(UUVP 2938) (~1.8 m) ilium (220 mm)
Like Illiosuchus, Stokeosaurus is based on an isolated ilium, with a prominent ridge extending vertically from the acetabular region. Galton, 1976 reffered this species to Illiosuchus but in light of further evidence, later withdrew this suggestion (Galton & Jensen, 1979) For the reasons given for Illiosuchus, Stokeosaurus may be a carnosaur, but further material in neccessary for any certainty.
