Holotype: Zigong Dinosaur Museum ZDM9011, discovered in 1984. The systematics of the genus Szechuanosaurus are uncertain (at best), since the type is an isolated tooth. S.zigongensis has four metacarpals (like Sinraptor) and a very pronounced deltapectoral crest.
10 cervicals, the last two plaocoelus, wuth vertrebral keel; 13 dorsals, 5 coalesced sacrals. Distal caudals with elnongate prezypophyses. Deltapectoral crest of humerus well developed, length ratio of radius to humerus is 56%. Metacarpal IV short and light. Illium aspecially low; pubis with foot-like distal end. Distal end of ischium expanded.
