Typespecies - Skull
Tarchia (Maryanska, 1977) > Tarchia gigantea (Maleev, 1956) = Dyoplosaurus giganteus (Maleev, 1956) >> Tarchia kielanae (Maryanska, 1977)
7 specimens including complete and partial skulls with nearly complete postcranial skeleton and armor. The youngest and largest Mongolian ankylosaurid is Tarchia gigantea (body length to 8 m; skull length to 400 mm, width to 450 mm)
Holotype
PIN 551/29 a series of caudfal vertebrae, metacarpals and phalanges, and fragments of armour plates. Other referred material: fragmentary remains of distal parts of tails and fragments of armour from the Nemegt Basin, an incomplete skull with skull roof, occiput and brain case from Khulsan, and a well preserved skull with incomplete postcranium. The skull was up to 400 mm long and 450 mm wide. With his 8 meter Tarchia was the largest Mongolian ankylosaur.
