Because of the initial work of the Mechin couple, the full name given to the new species is Variraptor mechinorum. \\\" Variraptor, which weighed around (110 lbs.) V. had powerful forearms and claws at its feet.\\\'
Allain & Taquet the describers of Pyroraptor olympius deliberately sinks Variraptor as a nomen dubium and asserts the material is not diagnostic.
