Austrosaurus mckillopi was founded on three pairs of very incomplete dorsal vertebrae, ?incomplete limb remains from several individuals
Holotype: QM F2316, large incomplete presacral vertebrae.
Coombs and Molner (1981) described five additonal specimens which they refered to Austrosaurus sp. these specimens consists of QM F3390 (proximal and distal ends of humerus and femur, proximal ends of threemetacarpals. QM F6737 (nine caudal vertebrae incomplete neural arch, three partial dorsal vertebrae, incomplete scapula, proximal ends of ischium, pieces of ribs.) QM F7291 (distal end of ulna?, distal end of femur, metacarpal) QM F7292 (18 caudal vetrebrae, ?carpal, two incomplete ulnae, two partial radii, two partial humerii, incomplete scapular blade, fragment of ?ilium, four metacarpals, pieces of ribs) QM F7880 (?Coracoid, femoral head) all from the Winton Formation, Queensland, Australia
