Genus - Typespecies
Based mainly on a right lower jaw with teeth, this genus is classified in [Scelidosauridae], and the family Scelidosauridae is removed from \\\"basal Thyreophora\\\" and referred to the taxon Ankylosauria (i.e., along with Nodosauridae, Ankylosauridae, and Polacanthidae).
Etymology
\\\"M. N.] Bien]\\\" and Greek sauros = \\\"lizard\\\"
Known material/holotype
IVPP V 9612, nearly complete right mandibular ramus with teeth, fragmentary frontal , several cranial fragments. Collected by M.N. Bien in 1938 and 1939.
Diagnosis of genus (as for the typespecies)
Small armored ornithischian; predentary short, wide; frontal thick, having small bony scutes fused to dorsal surface; dentary wide (as typical in ankylosaurs), with ornamental dorsal surface; teeth small, leaf-shaped, having symetrical ceown and developed cingulum. (Dong, 2001).
