Caenagnathus (Sternberg, 1940) > Caenagnathus collinsi (Sternberg, 1940) > Caenagnathus sternbergi (Cracraft, 1971)
Mandible
Barsbold 1983. Holotype. NMC 2690; posterior end of anterior lower jaw ramus. Discussion. The extremely limited information on the second species, Caenagnathus sternbergi (Cracraft, 1971), renders its description inexpedient. It was identified according to a fragment of bone with the lower jaw articulation, and differentiated largely on proportions.

Varricchio (2001) described a fragmentary lower jaw (MOR 1107), including the caudal end of the right mandibular ramus and referred the specimen to \\\"Caenagnathus sternbergi\\\" (=? Chirostenotes elegans) collected from the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian) Two Medicine Formation at Lanslide Butte, Clacier County, Montana.
