The single species Gasosaurus constructus is represented bij a single specimen. Gasosaurus constructus retains platycoelous cervicals, a primitive feature. . Gasosaurus constructus may be a carnosaur, but futher information is needed to confirm this conjecture.\\\"gas lizard\\\" alluding to the Dashanpu gas-mining company that found the fossil quarry. The oldest coelurosaurs documented are Proceratosaurus bradleyi (Bathonian) and Gasosaurus constructus (?Bathonian ?Callovian).
