Mid-to-distal caudal series & left hindlimb found in the Middle Gray Bed of Gongpoquan Basin in 1999
G. shenzhouensis represents a new genus and species of Sauropoda, and is among the most basal members of Titanosauria. This finding also suggests that titanosaurs might have originated in Asia no later than the Early Cretaceous.
Etymology
\\\"Gobi [desert]\\\" + Greek Titan (offspring of Uranus and Gaea symbolic of brute strength and large size).
First informaly described by You, 2002 in his Ph. D. dissertation on the Mazongshan dinosaur essemblage.
