Originally Agustinia was assigned to its own family, Agustiniidae (Bonaparte, 1999) however this family name has not come into wide acceptance. The only member of the family Agustinia is fragmentary nature and therefore difficult to classify because. It exhibits features of both diplodocoid and titanosaurian sauropods until more complete remains are discovered Agustinia is provisionally placed whitin the titanosauria.
