[F] Las Hoyas Konservat-lagerstatte - Cuenca - Spain
Cuenca - Spain
The Las Hoyas Konservat-lagerstatte is located at the Serrania de Cuenca (placed at the Iberian Mountain Ranges), province of Cuenca, Spain. It is Barremian (Lower Cretaceous) in age, belonging to the Calizas de la Huerguina Formation, which is lacustrine and palustrine in origin. Nonavian dinosaur material from Las Hoyas has been relatively scarce up to now.
The laminated limestones have provided an isolated theropod tooth. Fragmentary sauropod vertebrae have been found in massive limestone facies. Lateral detritic facies to the lacustrine limestones of Las Hoyas have yielded some Iguanodon bones in Buenache de la Sierra
