Shandong - China

Situated of the large Tan-Lu Fault, peninsular Shandong has moved about 500 kilometres north-east of its possition in the Mesozoic. Strata containing the remains of dinosaurs include the [Laiyang Formation] of Late Jurassic age, the Qingshan Formatoin of Early Cretaceous age, and the Wangshi Formation of Late Cretaceous age. They have a combined thickness of 2000 to 3000 metres. Beds of the Late Jurassic Mengyin Group [Meng-Yin Formation] are exposed to the west of the Tan-Lu Fault.
