[F] Waptiti Formation - Alberta - Canada
Alberta - Canada
In the west-central Interior Plains, strata correlative with the Belly River-Bearpaw-Edmonton successions have been assigned to the Wapiti Group (Allan and Carr, 1946; Kramers and Mellon, 1972).The Wapiti Group comprises interbedded sandstones, siltstones and mudstones, commonly cut by thick, coarse-grained sandstones of fluvial channel origin. The general depositional environment appears to have been mainly alluvial with evidence of some lacustrine deposition (Dawson and Kalkreuth, 1989).
