The Junggar Basin lies between the Altai and Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang. The long, continental sequence of thick sandstones, mudstones, and clays, ranges from Late Permian to Late Cretaceous in age. Dinosaurbearing horizons include the Shishugou Formation (Late Jurassic), the Tugulu Grou, Lianmugin Formation (Early Cretaceous) and the Wulungo Formation (Late Cretaceous).
